Orleans County 4-H Public Presentation Days were held last month, when 4-H members ranging in age from 8 to 18 presented on topics ranging from fossils to Dutch rabbits to how to make fruit kabobs.

According to Margo Bowerman, 4-H team coordinator for Orleans County, the 4-H Public Presentation Program is one of the organization’s most beneficial and rewarding experiences and is often credited by 4-H alumni as having given them an edge above peers in both college and professional careers. It provides a unique opportunity to develop a positive self-concept and poise, gain self-confidence before a group, learn to express ideas clearly, respond simultaneously to questions and gain subject matter knowledge.
