FUN: Community Action Angels host recreational, educational event.

Celebrating its 30th year, the Community Action Angels Children’s Carnival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Bullard Park in Albion.

“Proceeds go to the Angels in Action program that helps families in Orleans County with any crisis that arrives,” said Annette Finch, director of Community Service for Community Action of Orleans and Genesee. “The event is for all ages and everyone.”

Finch said that groups helping Community Action Angels with this year’s event are the Albion Main Street Alliance, Mason’s Renovation Lodge and the Albion Recreational Committee.

The carnival will feature games, food and activities, such as making your own bracelet and painting rocks.

“It’s a fun time for kids,” said Community Action administrative assistant Cheryl Boyer.

Boyer and Finch said that the carnival is not only recreational but it is also educational.

A dental group, WIC, the Health Department and Community Partners are some of the organizations and agencies that will be at the carnival passing out information, said Finch.

She also said that the Masons will do free children’s IDs and the Albion Police Department will hold a bicycle rodeo and explain safety tips.

“Kids can bring their bike and learn about safety,” Finch said. “It’s a four-hour day of fun.”

Bikes and helmets will be given away during the day. Finch said tickets are very reasonably priced for the games and food, which includes hot dogs, fries, cotton candy and popcorn. Finch said that people can also win tickets playing games and redeem them for prizes. A fire truck will be on site giving demonstrations.
