BASEBALL: Wilson scores win over Medina.

AKRON — Reducing the magic number for clinching at least a share of the title to one, Albion romped to a 20-0 victory over Akron on Tuesday in a Niagara-Orleans League game.

In other N-O action, Wilson defeated visiting Medina 9-4, Newfane downed CSAT 6-2 and Roy-Hart rallied past visiting Barker 7-6.

Brad Rush had five hits, Jake Lester, Buddy Keeler and Nate Lester three and Tom Hicks and Ronnie Mannella two to lead the balanced attack for defending champion Albion which stays perfect in N-O action at 10-0. Nate Lester drove in a total of five runs and Rush four.

Albion took the lead for good by scoring two quick runs in the first inning on hits by Matt Monacelli, Hicks and Rush.

A solo home run by Jake Lester, a triple by Rush and a double by Jason Stirk then keyed a three-run second inning and the Purple Eagles were off and rolling.

Albion later scored five times in both the fifth and sixth frames.

Keeler went the distance on the mound allowing five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

The loss drops Akron to 3-6.

Wilson 9, Medina 4

WILSON — Regaining the .500 mark in N-O action, Wilson bested 9-4 Medina as Andy Jones had two hits and three RBIs and Cameron Sidote and Tyler Moore both added two RBIs.

Andy Carroll went five innings on the mound for the Lakemen, striking out eight and giving up one earned run.

Matt Boring had two hits including solo home run for Medina which slips to 1-9.

Medina did grab a quick 2-0 first inning lead but Wilson answered with six in the third on five errors and two singles to move on top to stay.

Roy-Hart 7, Barker 6

GASPORT — Doubles by Matt Kuhn and Brian Warren along with three singles keyed a four-run seventh inning rally earning Roy-Hart a narrow 7-6 win over Barker.

Kuhn had a total of four hits on the day as the Rams go to 6-3.

Newfane 6, CSAT 2

NEWFANE — Rohn Pierce hit a two-run homer for Newfane which improves to 7-3.
