The Medina LOYAL Colts, Broncos and Stallions all scored victories over host Bar/Lyn squads Saturday to open the Niagara Orleans Football Association season.
The Colts defeated the Cubs 48-19, the Broncos downed the Raiders 19-6 and the Stallions edged the Tigers 19-18.
Albion’s two teams earned a split at Newfane as the JV Eagles won 42-12 while the Frosh Eagles lost 34-7.
Colts 38, Cubs 19
Isiah Rhim, Damon Bloom and Trent Jones each scored two touchdowns and Hunter Kruger added a pair of extra points to lead the Colts offense.
Rhim had a total of 140 yards offense, Bloom 86, Jones 39, Owen Frasier 20 and Kruger and Matt Saj 12 each.
On defense for the Colts, Saj and Austin Cox had fumble recoveries while Ron Kuhns, Andy Sipple and Saj all had sacks. Rhim, Kuhns and Ian Joseph were the leading tacklers.
Broncos 19, Raiders 6
Jacob Cotter scored all three touchdowns for the Broncos on runs of 80, 40 and 25 yards.
Quincy Harper added 70 yards offense and Brendon Zinkievich 60.
Cotter, Chase McAdoo and Dajohn Brown led the defense in tackles. Tyler Howard, Jacob Bishop, Zach McAdoo and Ryan Kruger all had strong games on the defensive line.
Stallions 19, Tigers 18
Forest Harper had a pair of 40 yard touchdown runs and Jacob Kingdollar a short TD carry to lead the Stallions. Kingdollar also scored what proved to be the decisive extra point.
Harper had a total of 182 yards offense, Kingdollar 49 and Brett Pecoraro and Joshua Scorger two each.
On defense, Pecoraro had eight tackles, Marc Vanderlaan seven, Thomas Follman and Aaron Even five, Kyle Herman, Nathan Hodgins and Scroger four, Devante Howard three, Patrick Walsh, Charles Enderby, Maxwell Owens, Brett Jepson and Harper two and Cedric Griffith and Kingdollar one. Kingdollar had an interception, Walsh a fumble recovery and Pecoraro a sack.
Brandon Schoolcraft scored two touchdowns and Ty Hrovat one for the Tigers.
Steven Anderson, who had an interception, RJ Kropp, Tim Flint and Josh Mead all had strong games defensively for the Tigers.
JV Eagles 42, Newfane 12
Tyler Rotoli scored four touchdowns on carries of 17, 50, 27 and 58 yards, and Manwell Taylor had three scores on runs of 75, 15 and 15 yards to spark the JV Eagles attack.
Taylor finished with a total of 185 yards offense, Rotoli 154, Jason Downs 64 and Joe Hughson 50.
Kory Reynolds led the Eagles defense in tackles with 10 while Hughson was in on seven stops, Taylor six, Adam Sills five and Downs, Nathaniel Trembley and Randy Elacker four each.
Trembley also had two fumble recoveries and Rotoli one while Sills had an interception.
Newfane 34, Frosh Eagles 7
Nate Moore scored the Eagles touchdown on a 91 yard run and also added the extra point. He finished with 101 yards offense.
Antonio Vallejo, Justin Stritzinger and Spencer Rotoli led the Eagles defense in tackles with six each. Colton Howell, Moore and Demetrius Gardner were each in on five tackles while Dominic Farley and Cade Aina were both in on four.

- FOOTBALL: Hawks look to rebound in year two. Last fall’s return to varsity football competition after a year’s absence proved to be a long one for Holley as the Hawks struggled through an 0-8 learning campaign.
- VOLLEYBALL: Purple Eagles host Medina tonight. Long runs of service points to open games one and three and to finish game two keyed Albion to a 25-15, 25-10, 25-23 season opening non- league victory over Oakfield-Alabama on Wednesday.

- SOCCER: Albion seeks 7th straight title Bolstered by a strong nucleus of 11 returnees, including five All-League honorees, the Albion High School girls varsity soccer squad is aiming to make a strong run at capturing a record seventh straight Niagara-Orleans championship this season.
- FOOTBALL: Tigers ground attack derails Diesel OLEAN — Unleashing a punishing ground attack, the Lyndonville Tigers rolled to a 31-0 victory over the Southern Tier Diesel on Friday night to clinch the Northeast Football Alliance regular season championship at 9-1.
- SOFTBALL: Second game will decide Div. 3 title Orleans Vets came up with the defense in the eighth inning and the offense in the ninth to defeat Mark’s Pizzeria 8-5 this past week in the opening game of the Medina Men’s Softball League Division 2 playoff title series.
