HOLLEY —
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department issued an appearance ticket Aug. 21, requiring a district administrator to appear in Batavia Town Court next month to answer a charge of driving while intoxicated. The Holley Central School District can confirm that the administrator has been on leave since Aug. 3, which includes the alleged time of the incident.
“This is truly a matter involving the alleged, personal actions of one of our employees, and like many of our parents and residents, we will certainly be monitoring the legal case as it moves forward,” said school spokesperson Grace Griffee. “At this time, Holley wants our parents and residents to be assured that our focus continues to be on preparing students to be
responsible and productive citizens. To live out that mission, the district expects all staff to take seriously their contributions as role models for our students.”
The school can only confirm that the administrator is on leave at her request under the Family and Medical Leave Act, which provides employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year. FMLA is designed to help employees balance their work and family responsibilities by allowing them to take reasonable unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons. FMLA applies to all public agencies, all public and private elementary and secondary schools and companies with 50 or more employees.
