MEDINA — The Medina Senior Center has once again brought in tax experts to help area residents file their taxes for free.
Peter Lindemann and Dan Gawlak will be at the Medina Senior Center on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays — by appointment only — through April 15 to help people file their tax returns.
“A lot of people don’t know about it,” said Lindemann. “It’s totally free.”
Bring your Social Security card, tax return document and any other pertinent forms, receipts or paperwork.
One of the benefits of going to the senior center to file tax returns — aside from the fact that it’s free — is that they are filed electronically. This means the information gets sent directly to the IRS computers the day they are completed, as opposed to being mailed to the IRS and entered into the computer. Residents can chose to have their returns directly deposited or mailed to them by check.
Lindemann and Gawlak can also help with amended returns and Earned Income Credit.
The services at the senior center are available to anyone in the area, but priority will be given to senior citizens. Call 798-4544 during regular business hours for an appointment. The Medina Senior Center is located at 615 West Ave. in the village.
The program has been offered at the senior center for more than two decades and is made possible by AARP and the IRS.
