Man flees scene of DWI crash

Medina Journal-Register — ALBION — A Middleport man was charged with drunk driving after he crashed into another vehicle just after midnight Wednesday and then fled the scene.

Dennis S. Biaselli, 38, was charged Wednesday with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and multiple traffic offenses after being apprehended at the Brown Street Bridge.

According to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, Biaselli’s westbound vehicle crossed the centerline of State Route 31 just west of Riches Corners Road, side-swiping an eastbound vehicle driven by Gail M. Klossner, 50, Spencerport at around 12:15 in the morning.

The impact caused

Klossner’s car to go into a spin and run off the south side of the roadway. Klossner was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was not injured.

Biaselli’s car also ran off the south side of the roadway and over-turned, coming to rest on its roof. After the collision, Biaselli, the sole occupant of the vehicle, crawled out of the car and ran from the scene.

Sheriff’s Deputy E.N. Fuller, assisted by Medina Police K-9 Officer T.M. Draper began tracking Biaselli north from the accident scene to the Erie Canal, then west along the canal bank. Meanwhile, Albion Police Officer J.M. Doyle drove to the Brown Street bridge over the canal, and observed Biaselli walking on the bridge. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Biaselli appeared before Town of Albion Justice Kevin Howard, and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear Jan. 16 in town court.

The accident investigation and subsequent arrest was conducted by Sergeant D.E. Draper Jr.
