Medina Journal-Register — ALBION — The former Medina Fire Department official charged last year with engaging in sexual contact with a minor accepted a plea offer Monday in Orleans County Court.

Jeffrey R. Elsenheimer, 32, plead guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sex act, a Class E Felony. He could face up to four years in prison for each offense.

In his plea, Elsenheimer told County Court Judge James Punch that he engaged in oral sexual contact on two separate occasions with two different victims at his East Center Street residence in 2012.

Elsenheimer was arrested in August after allegations that he had engaged in a consensual sexual act with a teenaged male he knew through a familial connection at the fire department.

”Yes, I did what was alleged,” Elsenheimer said as Punch spoke with him about the specifics of the charges in the plea. 

District Attorney Joe Cardone said that in both charges, the victims were 16 years old. It is unlawful for a person above the age of 21 to engage in such acts with an individual under the age of 17.

Elsenheimer was indicted last month on 29 separate counts, including multiple charges of sex abuse, endangerment of a child, criminal sex act, promoting a sexual performance by a child and possession of a performance of a sexual act by a child.

Elsenheimer had served as the public information officer for the Medina Fire Department, but resigned after his arrest.

He is scheduled to be sentenced May 13.

• Cardone made a plea offer Monday to George Brown, the village man arrested in December after a car chase that following incidents at a pair of South Main Street businesses.

Brown was charged Dec. 17 with first-degree custodial interference, a Class E felony, endangering a child under the age of 17, third-degree grand larceny, second- and third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary, third-degree attempted robbery and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.

According to police reports, Brown took two teenaged children from a relative’s residence, broke into the Orleans Ford auto dealership and threatened a clerk at the adjacent Crosby’s convenience store before leading police on a pursuit into Genesee County before being detained.

Cardone offered a plea of third-degree burglary and third-degree attempted robbery with no sentencing provisions.

The deal was not accepted Monday, as other issues had to be examined first. Assistant Public Defender Nathan Pace, who represented Brown, said its possible the “absurd, destructive” events of that early morning were due to drug use.

Cardone said police reports indicate that Brown had ingested cocaine prior to the acts and was under the belief that a world-ending cataclysm was coming due to the December 21 Mayan Calendar phenomenon. 

Punch agreed that an Article 730 hearing on Brown’s mental state would be needed.
