Dog bites man

A Town of Ridgeway man was hospitalized Tuesday after being bitten by his own dog.

According to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred at about 10:20 p.m., at the home of Brian J. Adams, 30 and his wife Kristi L. Adams, 38. There was a verbal altercation between Adams and his wife, at which point Adams was attacked by the family dog, a 2 ½ year old male Pit Bull terrier.

Brian Adams was bitten in the arm and face. He was transported by Medina Fire Department ambulance to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he was treated and released at approximately 4:00 a.m.

Kristi Adams also sustained bite wounds to her right forearm when she attempted to get the dog away from her husband. She refused medical attention from first responders.

The Adams’ 11-yr. old daughter was also home at the time of the incident. She placed the call to 9-1-1 and had no interaction with the dog.

The dog was seized by Orleans County Animal Control and remains at the County Animal Shelter. According to Mrs. Adams, the dog was not licensed but did have a current rabies vaccination.

The incident remains under investigation by Sheriff’s Deputy T.N. Tooley, assisted by Lieutenant R.E. Perry and Animal Control Officer K.E. Smith.
