The results are in ... and Lyndonville remains the champ.
Luckily, the rain didn’t dampen the taste buds of the 169 voters who participated in Orleans County Health Department’s Best Tasting Water contest Saturday at the Albion Strawberrry Festival.
When the tally was complete, Lyndonville Municipal Water Supply retained the champion spot with 63 percent of the votes.
The water-testers tasted each of the three municipal samples of water provided by Albion, Holley and Lyndonville, all sourced in Orleans County.
Sample “A” was Albion (Lake Ontario source), sample “B” was Holley (groundwater source), and sample “C” was from Lyndonville (Lake Ontario source). The waters are labeled at random, with only one person knowing which sample is which.
This is an enjoyable way to share with Orleans County residents the importance of safe water and the hard work all of the municipalities do to provide healthy, clear drinking water.
Lyndonville will now go to the Regional Water Contest held in the Rochester area and will be eligible to participate in New York State’s Best Tasting Water Contest held later this summer at the New York State Fair.
