MIDDLEPORT-MEDINA: Holy Trinity pastor named

MERGER: Parochial vicar of OLV to lead merged parish.

staff report

The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls, a parochial vicar of Our Lady of Victory in Lackawanna, will be the new pastor of the merged Catholic churches in Middleport and Medina.

St. Stephen parish in Middleport and St. Mary parish in Medina have been consolidated and named Holy Trinity. Fawls’ new assignment becomes effective Sept. 5.

Bishop Edward U. Kmiec named Fawls pastor. The announcement was printed in Sunday’s Our Lady of Victory bulletin.

“Father Dan has served our parish, and the Homes of Charity and Baker Victory Services, so well for the past five years,” Msgr. Paul J.E. Burkard wrote. “While we are sad to see him leave, we know that he is more than ready for the challenges of his new pastorate. ... We also have the satisfaction of knowing that Our Lady of Victory played a part in preparing him to be a pastor. The people of Medina are fortunate indeed!”
