As the Medina Memorial Hospital continues to grow and expand, more and more money is needed to keep the facility performing at top level.
Each year, the Treasure Island Silent and Live Auction is held. Proceeds from the event are donated to the Medina Health Care Foundation, and each year the Treasure Island Committee selects one project in particular to donate the money toward.
“This year, the money will go toward the campaign we’re running to renovate the north wing (of the hospital), which is our 30-bed nursing home,” explained Candy Schoenle, director of foundation operations.
In addition to the items being auctioned off, refreshments are also available to participants. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the auction.
“The event has been very successful in the past,” Schoenle said. “Last year, we raised nearly $37,000. Donations come from local businesses, hospital vendors and general community members.”
This year, some of the highlights of the auction include a 20-inch, flat-panel television, tickets to Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres games, lottery baskets, oil paintings, gift baskets and even a foosball table.
The auction will take place at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Sacred Heart Club, Medina.
Schoenle said the committee is still accepting donations. To donate, contact Schoenle at 798-8425.
