Staff Reports

MEDINA — Three suspects have been charged with burglary and petit larceny in connection with a break-in and the theft of a disco ball at the movie theater at 601 Main St.

The Medina Police Department received a report April 22 that suspects entered the theater through an unlocked or unsecured door. While in the building, suspects stole a large disco ball, according to police reports. The building was unoccupied and was being remodeled at the time.

Following an investigation, police arrested Tyler Coy, 19, 916 Orient St.; Joshua Kinney, 18, 916 Orient St.; and a 16-year-old. They are accused of entering the building without permission from the owner and taking the disco ball from the ceiling of the dance floor.

Each defendant was charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny. All three were arraigned before Judge Donald Draper, who set bail at $5,000 for Coy and Kinney and $1,000 for the 16-year-old.

Chief Jose Avila commended Medina police officers for their work on the case, which was investigated by Sgt. Eaton, Sgt. Draper, Officer Kenward and Officer Barnum.
