Numerous Orleans County fire fighters were called in today to battle an overpowering two story structure fire in the town of Kendall.

An anonymous 911 call came in at 10:38 a.m. describing smoking blowing out of the homes’ windows. Kendall, Holley, Barre and Albion Fire Departments responded to 17615 Kenmore Road.

“The kids were at school and the mom had left 15 minutes before the call,” said Deputy Amy Jenks. “She says she has no idea how the fire could have started.”

The fire carried billows of smoke 50 feet high and was brought under control by the efforts of the interdepartmental squads led by Kendall chief, Mike Kludt.

“The flames were rolling up and over when we arrived on scene,” Kludt said. “The guys all did a great job getting it under control so fast.”

A Morton fire fighter was injured on site when debris fell from the roof during the blaze. He was attended to on scene and was released with minor injuries.

Fire investigators were called, but had no further information available at that time.
