VOTE: Protesters look for referendum

Staff Reports

Protesting for change, many gathered on the Medina courthouse steps Thursday to demand the elimination of New York state government. Part of Project 2010, founder Leonard Roberto said “that this is rapidly going across the state and the time has come for this change.”

The project, which began a month ago, will take protesters to more than 900 locations across the state to spread the message.

The goal of Project 2010 is to organize a referendum for citizen’s in 2010, letting them decide what happens to the government. Citizen’s would vote to abolish the government and start over.

Roberto said that citizens should have a right to vote in a public referendum and if it doesn’t happen in 2010, he will continue to try for 2011, 2012 and so on.
