BUSINESS: Medina lumberyard set to open

Staff Reports

Opening today, Medina Lumber and Hardware LLC, 305 E. Center St., hopes to now become a convenient place where local contractors can go to pick up their supplies and get back to the job site.

Owner Tom Snyder said that the idea behind the business was something that he and his father, Warren Snyder, had thought about for many years. Originally, the two wanted to buy Archer Lumber in Albion after it closed, but it was not the right time.

When Somerset Lumber closed recently, Tom said it began taking at least an hour out of his work day to drive to Gasport for the supplies he needed and return to Medina, or he would have to pay a worker to drive and pick up the supplies.

With the opening of the new business, Snyder wants local contractors to be able to quickly get the supplies they need and return to their sites.

“I want to provide something local that’s reasonable,” Tom said. “Medina is a good investment and I’m once again showing it.”

Medina Lumber and Hardware LLC will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. It will offer the usual line of lumber and light hardware.
