MEDINA: Could it be the next Hollywood?

Lights and cameras will again be turned on as a second film begins shooting in Medina. Wintergreen Productions, a Hollywood-based company, will film scenes for its next movie in late July. The as-yet-untitled project will be directed by Gabe Simon.

This will be the largest production Simon has worked on so far. He said he worked on four short films while at Genesee Community College and has helped as director of photography and director’s assistant on several other films.

“We know it’s going somewhere,” Simon said. “It’s a huge opportunity.”

Simon said that after completing the project, it will then go into as many film festivals as possible.

“He’s going to be a good director,” producer Nicholas Rich said. “His work is phenomenal. Not just everyone can be a director.”

Rich said that he looks forward to shooting again in Medina and bringing more money into the local economy.

“Medina is a fantastic place to shoot,” Simon said. “It’s an awesome location. It will be a lot of fun.”

The project will feature a cast and crew of more than 50 people, and Simon and Rich said that again, they will be looking for locals to be production assistants and help with the film.
