ART: Local artist holds show

Staff Reports

Featuring approximately 30 new watercolor paintings, local artist Arthur Barnes will hold a reception Thursday at Genesee Community College’s Albion Campus. His paintings will all feature a “Dusk til Dawn” theme, and many consist of local scenes.

“I draw and paint wherever I am,” Barnes said. “Since I am now living back here in Orleans County, many of these scenes are from the area.”

Barnes is a longtime county artist and has done three murals along the Erie Canal. He is also a member of the Artists Alliance of Orleans County.

The reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The exhibit will continue to be on display through July 10.

A poster of the show, created at Hatch Print in Nashville, Tenn., will be available at the show. The poster features a scene from Swallow Hollow.

“I’m really proud of these posters,” Barnes said. “Hatch is an old-school printing company that still prints the same way they did 100 years ago. I love the way they came out.”
