Soon, the residents of Medina will be able to enjoy a Mexican feast, thanks to Bob and Jann Sloper. Opening for business July 1, Tito’s Tacos, 11419 Maple Ridge Road, formerly Creekside Florists, will offer a full Mexican menu.
“It was built and designed so the kids in the area have something to do and a place to be,” said Bob.
He said that unlike some places around the area, he invites kids to come to his business and hang out, play ball and have fun. Bob and Jann have also hired 24 students from Lyndonville, Albion, Barker, Middleport, Gasport and Medina to work part-time at the restaurant. The two said that the number of applications they received proves that the kids of the area are starving for something to do and want responsibility.
The idea behind the restaurant began six years ago when the couple first decided that they wanted to open a restaurant. Though it was not financially an option at the time, now the business is only days away from opening. Jann said they wanted a catchy name for the business and decided on Tito’s Tacos.
Tito’s Tacos will offer the full Mexican menu, including nachos, tacos, salads and burritos. There’s a drive-thru window, as well as a dining room inside.
“I’m stepping on nobody’s toes in town,” Bob said. “There was definitely a need for this type of food and variety of menu.”
Bob and Jann are also making plans to expand the outside areas. Bob said that he would like to add a basketball and volleyball court to make it a nice place for the community and is hoping to get community support to make it a reality.
Tito’s Tacos will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
