Woman killed in three-car wreck

Medina Journal-Register — SHELBY — A multi-car accident on State Route 63 claimed the life of a young woman and injured two others.

Kelsey N. Milks, 19, Corfu, a passenger in one of three vehicles involved in the accident, was pronounced dead Sunday after being transported to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m., in the 5700 block of South Gravel Road, between Oak Orchard Ridge Road and the Genesee-Orleans County Line, with a head-on crash between a northbound Dodge Caravan and a southbound Chevrolet Cavalier. Upon impact the Caravan ran off the east side of the roadway down an embankment, and into a ditch.

The Cavalier came to rest in the center of the roadway, where a southbound Chevrolet Cobalt collided with it. The Cobalt continued for some distance on the road before coming to rest on the west shoulder of the road.

The driver and sole occupant of the Caravan was identified as Walter C. Hawkins, 73, Medina. He was treated and released from Medina Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Cavalier was identified as Dana R. Cipra, 20, Batavia; Milks was a front seat passenger in Cipra's vehicle. Cipra remains hospitalized at ECMC.

The driver of the Cobalt was identified as Robin E. Harrington, 49, Greece. His front seat passenger was identified as Debra E. Sherman, 49, Fairport. Neither were injured.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. It is being conducted by Orleans County Sheriff's Deputy J.J. Cole, assisted by Deputies T.C. Marano & D.S. Klips, Sgt. G.T. Gunkler, and Chief Deputy T.L. Drennan. Shelby and East Shelby firefighters assisted at the scene and Alabama firefighters assisted with traffic control.
