A Valentine Tea, hosted by Cindy Hellert of Lyndonville, was the scene for the yearly organizing meeting of the Soil, Toil and Thyme Garden Club of Orleans County on Tuesday. Pictured are Anna Stelianou, left, MaryAnne Braunbach, Anne Smith and Fredi Stangland. The garden club is part of the Federated Garden Clubs of New York state. Each year, a schedule of activities is planned by the group to meet group education desires, as well as needs of Orleans County communities. Special work sessions the members volunteered for this year are flower bed cleaning, tilling and planting at the Cobblestone Museum Complex for the Cobblestone Society’s 50th anniversary this year. Another event is the second annual Down the Garden Path tour, a fundraising event for the Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners. The members will be working in the capacity of assisting the host Garden Star, by being assistant Garden Ambassadors and tour guides at each of the tour locations. Organizer Cindy Hellert made the Valentine Tea, even more special by using serving pieces her mother, Doris Anstey, hand-painted roses on, as a special remembrance of the season of love and service to others.
