Two men charged in connection with a car accident that claimed the life of a Medina teen have had their cases adjourned until next month.
Joshua Stockwell, 18, of Medina, was charged Dec. 18 with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and other violations after an investigation into the accident that killed 17-year-old Jenna Pratt, according to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office.
Justin Gray, 24, of Medina, faces charges of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child for allegedly providing beer to Stockwell and Pratt on the night of the accident. He turned himself in to sheriff’s investigators Dec. 22.
Gray appeared in Shelby Town Court on Thursday night, when his case was adjourned to discuss a plea offer from the district attorney. Stockwell did not appear in court Thursday.
The men had their first court appearance Jan. 4 in Shelby; members of Pratt’s family appeared at both court dates.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Dec. 6, when the car Stockwell and Pratt were traveling in went off the south side of Martin Road and struck a tree. Stockwell told police after the accident that Pratt grabbed the wheel before the vehicle went off the road, which Chief Deputy Thomas Drennan has said is consistent with what officers saw at the crash scene.
According to Drennan, toxicology results indicated that Stockwell had a blood alcohol content at the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent after the accident.
Gray is scheduled to return to town court March 4.
