Inmate death investigated

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an Orleans County man who died at the Monroe County Correctional Facility on Sunday.

A man from the Kendall area who was serving weekends at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Brighton died Sunday morning, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Cpl. John Helfer.

Ronald Dufoe, 52, was found at around 7:30 a.m. According to Helfer, Dufoe was found “despondent” and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he was pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m.

“Preliminary medial examiner results didn’t find any obvious cause of death,” said Helfer. “Now we’re waiting for toxicology results.”

The sheriff’s office is continuing the investigation into Dufoe’s death.
