Correction Officer charged with official misconduct

Medina Journal-Register — Correction Officer charged with official misconduct

ALBION — A seven-year veteran Orleans County Sheriff’s Correction Officer was arrested Thursday following an investigation into allegations of misconduct while on-duty.

Charles E. Parker Jr., 47, Knowlesville is charged with two counts of official misconduct, a Class “A” Misdemeanor. The first count alleges that on or about Oct. 1, Parker engaged in inappropriate conduct with a female inmate in the Orleans County Jail. The second count alleges that on or about Nov. 25, he provided cash money to the sister of a female inmate in the Orleans County Jail. The money was then used to post the inmate’s bail bond.

Each of these allegations involved a different female inmate, both of whom are no longer incarcerated.

Parker appeared this afternoon before Town of Shelby Justice Dawn M. Keppler, who set bail at $500 cash/$1,000 bond and adjourned the matter until Dec. 12, when Parker will appear in Town of Albion Court.

Judge Keppler also issued an Order of Protection for the parties involved. This included the surrender of all of Parker’s firearms.

Parker was processed at the Orleans County Jail before being released on bail. He is currently on paid administrative leave.
