Operation Keep Iraqi Children Kicking, or KICK, continues its drive at Medina High School.
Operation KICK is a program recently started by National Honor Society students to send soccer balls and other small toys to children in Iraq.
So far, the school has collected a dozen new soccer balls and many small toys for troops to hand out in Sadr City, Iraq.
Sadr City is where 2008 graduate Greg Dipuccio is stationed. The program started after MHS received a letter from its former student, who is deployed as a combat medic in the United States Army.
He asked the school if it would send soccer balls to his platoon.
On Tuesday, the National Honor Society was pleased to accept $400 in contributions toward Operation KICK from the American Legion, Men’s Auxiliary, VFW and the Veteran’s Club in Medina.
NHS has also received donations from many faculty and administration members of MHS, as well as Raymond Bates, Jean and David Wetherbee, Paula Moyer and from a number of people who wish to remain anonymous.
The National Honor Society is extending Project KICK until Friday.
