Compiling a perfect 5-0 record, the host Hawks captured top honors Saturday at the annual Holley Team Tournament.
Holley put a lock on the title by defeating McQuaid 46-26 in the finals. A second period pin by Andrew Flanaghan (96) clinched the victory for Holley. Jeff Donahue (103), CJ Fallato (189) and Kacee Sauer (285) also all registered first period pins for the Hawks.
Holley opened the tourney with a 54-29 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima. The Hawks then defeated Amherst 55-15, Holley Varsity ‘B’ 65-0 and Greece Arcadia/Athena 45-31 before besting McQuaid in the tourney finale.
Flanaghan, Sam Mauro (119), Quinton Murphy (135) and Sauer all went 5-0 on the day for the Hawks. Donahue, Dylan Murphy (130), Josh Avila (140), Fallato and Sean Baylor (215) all went 4-1 while Tim Butler (125) and Jon Butterbaugh (160) were 3-2.
For the Holley Varsity ‘B’ team, Sam Beadle went 4-1 while Andrew White and Chris Kenyon were 3-2.
Holley next hosts Pembroke in a Genesee Region League match at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Batavia Tournament
BATAVIA — Lyndonville’s Cody Dix captured the 160 pound title Saturday at the annual Batavia Tournament.
The Tigers also had Sam Recco (112) and Josh Brabon (125) place second while Sam Follman (140) and Walter Breese (119) took third.
Lyndonville took seventh in the team competition which was won by Johnson City.
Silver Creek Tourney
Six Medina wrestlers placed in the Silver Creek JV Tournament Saturday.
Matt Gross took a first place for the Mustangs while Robert Wendt placed second, CJ Ambrose, Randy Grey and Adam Eick third and Matt Montesanti fourth.
