Albion spikers win on Senior Night

Medina Journal-Register — ALBION - Celebrating Senior Night, Albion posted a 25-9, 25-17, 25-22 victory over Lyndonville in a non league match Monday.

Halle Jurs had a total of 23 service pouts, including 10 aces, and Cady Messmer had seven spiking kills and five aces to lead the way for Albion which improves to 11-4.

Meghan Hurley served up points 15-19 and Dakota Zimmer 21-25 to spark Albion to a 25-9 win in the first set which also included three kills by Kelsee Soule.

Jurs dominated at the service line in the second set as she served up points 2-11, including three aces, and points 20-25, again including three aces. Messmer registered a total of six kills in the set including three during Jurs’ early run and one for the set winner.

Lyndonville did rally into a 15-15 tie midway through the set as Abigail Feldman served up points 5-10 to lead the Lady Tigers rally.

Messmer served up four straight aces early in the third set to spark Albion out to a 9-6 lead.

Two aces by Jurs upped the Purple Eagles lead to 20-12.

Feldman answered with four in a row (15-18) to pull Lyndonville to within 21-18 but the Lady Tigers could get no closer.

Albion next visits Newfane in the Niagara-Orleans League finale this evening.
