Barker tops Medina to clinch tie for title

Medina Journal-Register — BARKER - Clinching at least a tie for a seventh straight title, Barker defeated Medina 5-2 Thursday to improve to 10-0-1 in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey competition.

Barker grabbed a narrow 1-0 half-time lead on a goal by Gabby Clare off an assist from Brooke Bodine.

Barker doubled its advantage seven minutes into the second half on a goal by Olivia Denny.

The Lady Raiders then broke the contest wide open nine minutes later with two lightning quick goals just 50 seconds apart by Denny and Kassandra Neadow.

Clare later rounded out the Barker scoring with her second goal of the afternoon.

Olivia Hermann and Dominique Hughes scored the goals for Medina which is now 0-9-2.

Kenmore 7, Wilson 2

Kaeli Mathias scored five goals to spark Kenmore (9-1-1) past Wilson (1-10).

Akron 4, Newfane 0

Cate Kelkenberg and Alisha Bell each scored two goals to lead Akron (7-4) past Newfane (2-8-2) 4-0.

Roy-Hart 4,

Buffalo Seminary 1

Paige Flynn scored three goals and Casidhe Heschke one to pace Roy-Hart to the 4-1 non league win over Buffalo Seminary.

Volleyball

Lyndonville 25-28-25

Kendall 20-26-20

KENDALL - Highlighted by an overtime win in the second set, Lyndonville posted a key 25-20, 28-6, 25-20 Genesee Region League victory over rival Kendall Wednesday to maintain a hold on the division lead.

Trailing 23-16, Lyndonville rallied to take the pivotal second set in overtime as Sierra VanWycke served points 17-20, Alex Harling 22-25 and then Heather Mufford scored the final three points.

Alyssa Houseman then scored eight pouts to lead the way in the match clinching third set as Chelsey Silversmith and Katie Marek turned in strong defensive efforts.

Lyndonville can now clinch the division title with a home court victory over Holley this evening.
