MEDINA —
Avenging an earlier season loss, Medina posted a 45-27 victory over visiting Akron Thursday to close out the Niagara-Orleans League season at 9-5 with a sixth straight victory.
Albion also capped off the N-O season with a victory downing host Barker 34-27 to wind up at 10-4.
Wilson earned a share of the N-O crown by defeating visiting Roy-hart 44-39. Wilson and Roy-Hart share the title with identical 12-2 records.
In the other contest, Newfane (5-9) downed CSAT (0-14) 55-45.
Maggie Balcerzak scored 13, Tanisha Robinson 12 and Albanellys Perez nine to spark Medina which had dropped a 31-21 decision at Akron earlier in the season. Perez also had 17 rebounds and Balcerzak 10 as Sharon Husung added nine assists and seven steals.
Kierstyn Sturmer scored 12 for Akron, which finishes the N-O season at 5-9.
Balcerzak had the hot hand early erupting for 10 points in the first quarter on four jumpers and a lay-up to help Medina grab a 13-6 lead.
The Mustangs upped the lead to 22-13 at the half as Balcerzak, Perez, Husung and Abby Button all contributed second period baskets.
A three and a lay-up by Robinson in the third period helped keep Medina up by 11, 30-19, at the three-quarter mark. Robinson also netted seven in the final stanza including another three.
Albion 34, Barker 27
BARKER — Tanisha Moyer had 13 points and 12 rebounds, Abby Edwards eight points and Brittany Bennett-Allis nine rebounds and five points to set the pace for Albion.
Trailing 10-3 after one period, Albion outscored Barker 24-14 over the middle two quarters to gain control. Moyer netted five points in the second period and six more in the third.
Wilson 44, Roy-Hart 39
WILSON — Jamie Curry had 18 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and three assists and Courtney Murray 16 rebounds, six steals and six points to spark Wilson to a share of its third straight N-O title.
“It’s a great win, a great team effort,” Wilson coach Brian Baker said. “We really played consistent down the stretch. We moved the ball around well and got some turnovers. The kids just played so hard.”
Jesse DeWaters took game high honors with 23 points for Roy-Hart.
Wilson held leads of 7-6 after one period, 20-12 at the half and 32-28 at the three-quarter mark.
The co-championship is the first for Roy-Hart since the 2004-2005 season when the Lady Rams shared the crown with Albion.
Newfane 55, CSAT 45
BUFFALO — Maddy Passuite scored 14 and Katie Shaw 10 to key the offense for Newfane which led 26-22 at the half and 44-32 at the three-quarter mark.
