Medina Journal-Register — A total of five schools are represented on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League boys soccer squad.
Champion Newfane leads the way with four honorees including senior goalie Brandon Henry, senior defender Chandler Knight, junior midfielder Patrick Eadie and senior forward Ryan Doyle.
Wilson is represented by the trio of senior defender Liam McIntosh, senior midfielder Mike Thompson and junior forward Isaiah Barrett.
Albion and Medina/Lyndonville have both placed two players on the first team. The Purple Eagles are represented by the senior duo of defender Trevor Hadick and midfielder Jackson Hamilton. The Mustangs have placed senior forward Thomas Goertze and junior defender Scott Barber.
Akron’s senior midfielder Russell Catalano rounds out the first team.
Doyle, a four year varsity starter for the Panthers, had 15 goals and five assists this season. Eadie, a three year starter, had eight goals and 13 assists. Knight, a two-year starter, anchored the defensive unit which registered seven shutouts this season. Henry, a three-year starter made 119 saves and was in goal for the seven shutouts.
Barrett led Wilson inscoring with 12 goals while Thompson, the lone first team repeat selection, had eight goals and four assists and McIntosh seven goals and 13 assists.
Goetze led Medina/Lyndonville in scoring with 15 goals and six assists while Barber helped anchor the Mustangs midfield area.
Hamilton had nine goals and eight assists for the Purple Eagles while Hadick keyed the defensive unit in his first season after earning first team All-Division honors in football as a place kicker his junior year.
Catalano had eight goals and 13 assists to pace Akron.
Akron led the way on the second team with four selections including junior goalie Austin Medole, junior defender Brad Seguin, senior midfielder Neil Friedman and junior forward Chris Mayrose.
Medina/Lyndonville is represented by senior defender Matt Zacher and senior midfielder Drew McMurray.
Albion has placed senior defender Jon Poole and senior forward Sam Remley while Roy-Hart is represented by senior forward Jarred Hinkson.
Rounding out the second team are Wilson junior defender Nate Johnson, Newfane senior midfielder Brad Duhow and CSAT junior midfielder William Maue.
Four Medina/Lyndonville players received honorable mention including seniors Chris Horgan and Jessie Fergen, junior Anthony Pane and sophomore James Ianni.
Albion has a trio of honorable mention picks in seniors Chris Reed and Dani Biterbiev and sophomore Marco Sanchez.
Roy-Hart is represented by senior Kevin Bligh and junior Will Johnson.
