Albion and Medina will both open Section VI girls basketball playoff action on the road this week.
Seeded No. 6, Albion, which went 10-4 in Niagara-Orleans League action and 12-6 overall during the regular season, will visit No. 3 Amherst (10-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Class A-2 quarterfinals. The winner advances to Saturday’s semifinals at Lockport.
Seeded No. 11, Medina (3-11, 4-14) begins Class B-1 competition at
7 p.m. Tuesday at No. 6 Tonawanda (7-5). The winner will visit No. 3 Fredonia (10-2) on Thursday.
Tuesday’s Class B-1 openers will also have No. 10 Alden at No. 7 Newfane.
A trio of N-O teams will be in action in the Class B-2 playoffs at
7 p.m. Thursday with No. 3 Roy-Hart (11-3) hosting No. 6 Falconer (4-8), No. 5 Akron (8-6) at No. 4 Allegany-Limestone (9-3) and top-seeded league champion Wilson (14-0) hosting the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 9 JFK and No. 8 Gowanda.
In Class C, No. 11 Barker faces No. 6 Tapestry Charter on Tuesday at
St. Mary’s School for the Deaf.
Lyndonville, which is seeded
No. 12 at 7-11, begins Section V Class D-1 playoff action at 7 this evening at Warsaw against No. 5 Bolivar-Richburg (13-5).
Holley opens Class B-2 playoff action at home at 7 p.m. Friday as the No. 2-seeded Hawks (11-7) host the winner of the No. 10 Sodus (5-13) vs. No. 7 LeRoy (6-12) preliminary round contest.
Kendall opened Class C-2 sectional competition Friday as the No. 16 Lady Eagles were defeated 53-11 by No. 1 Keshequa (16-3). Sam D’Agostino scored nine for Kendall, which finishes the season at 1-18.
Keshequa led 12-2 after one quarter and 27-7 at the half.
Wilson tuned up for sectional competition by defeating Holy Angels 36-28 Friday as Jessica Curry scored 12 and Lindsay Frauen 10.
Wilson held an 18-10 lead at the half.

Holley cagers top Lyndonville
Moving on top to stay with an 11-2 run to close the first half, Holley went on to defeat Lyndonville 68-58 Thursday in a Genesee Region League game.
Sage Hodge scored a game high 23 points while Camron Quaranto netted 17 and Kyle Bell 16 to lead the way for Holley. -

Jumping out to a big early lead, Medina went on to defeat Albion, 41-36, Wednesday in a Niagara-Orleans League match.
In Genesee Region League action, Lyndonville got a late pin to nip host Byron-Bergen 45-41.
In other N-O action, front-running Newfane improved to 5-0 by defeating rival Wilson (2-2) 60-17 and Barker (1-3) downed Akron (0-5) 43-36. -
Wilson bests Medina in N-O clash
Moving on top to stay with a big second quarter, defending champion Wilson went on to defeat host Medina 41-34 Friday in a Niagara-Orleans League contest.
