Medina matmen to host Roy-Hart

Medina Journal-Register — Looking to stay in the thick of what is shaping up as a wide open title chase Medina hosts Roy-Hart at 6 this evening in a key Niagara-Orleans League wrestling match.

Roy-Hart at 2-0 is the league’s only remaining undefeated team while Medina, Akron and Newfane are all at 2-1 and Albion at 1-1.

Albion will host Barker and Akron travels to Wilson in tonight’s other matches.

Tonight’s match will also be Senior Night as the Mustangs will honor the squads’ four seniors Matt Montesanti, Rob Wendt, Adam Eick and Stormi Kruger.

N-O swim action resumes Thursday with Medina at Albion, Akron at Roy-Hart and Barker at Newfane in 4:30 p.m. meets.

The Medina boy squad is at 1-3 and Albion at 0-4. Both the Medina and Albion girls squads are looking to snap season opening four meet losing streaks.

The defending champion Roy-Hart boys and Newfane girls teams are both undefeated at 4-0.

In he boys title race Akron and Barker both share second place at 3-1. The Roy-hart and Akron girls squad likewise shre second place at 3-1.

N-O boys and girls basketball action resumes on Friday night.

The boys games will have Roy-Hart (1-0) at Medina (0-1), Wilson (0-1) at Albion (0-1), CSAT (1-0) at Newfane (1-0) and Akron (1-0) at Barker (0-1).

The girls contests will have Medina (1-0) at Roy-Hart (0-1), Albion (1-0) at Wilson (1-0), Newfane (1-0) at CSAT (0-1), Barker (0-1) at Akron (0-1).

The Medina boys squad, now at 3-2 overall, is looking to keep the momentum from a pair of holiday week victories at the Starpoint Tournament. Lonnie Taylor, who earned MVP honors, scored 25 and 32 points to lead the Mustangs to wins over Starpoint (54-47) and Niagara Catholic (56-51).
