Senior hoops doubleheader at Medina Friday

Medina Journal-Register — The 14th annual Niagara-Orleans League vs. Genesee Region League Exceptional Seniors basketball doubleheader will be held Friday night at Medina High.

The girls game will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the boys contest.

The leagues split the twin bill last year with the N-O winning the girls game 56-37 and the G-R taking the boys contest 80-71.

The N-O holds the lead in both series by margins of 9-4 in the girls and 8-5 in the boys.

The N-O lineup for the girls game will include Alba Perez from Medina, Eboni Taylor and Sarah Papponetti from Albion, Kayla Moeller, Makenzi Strickland and Sydney Webb from Baker, Katie Shaw, Maddy Passuite, Jess Hambruch and Jordan Beutel from Newfane and Kate Placek and Mallorie Gagnon from Wilson.

Local players on the G-R girls roster include Haley Anderson and Sierra VanWycke from Lyndonville along with Ashley Makowski and Abby David from Kendall.

The N-O boys line-up will include Lonnie Taylor from Medina, Fred Koester and Marquise Riddick from Albion, Brad Bobbitt, Blake Copella and Ryan Farewell from Roy-Hart, Brett Cole from Barker, Connor Sears, Reid Weber and Bryan Geise from Newfane, Austin Mietz and Gowah Abrams from Akron, Matt Baker from Wilson and Darnell Carson and Jaquille Peay from CSAT.

Local players on the G-R boys roster include Austin Bane from Lyndonville, Dan Kelly and Jonal Dalcin from Kendall and Kyle Bell and Will Barniak from Holley.
