Medina Journal-Register — ALBION - Benefitting from eight forfeit wins, Albion posted a 58-12 victory over Lyndonville Wednesday in the non league season opening wrestling match for both teams.
Albion took three of the five bouts that were decided on the mat on decision wins by Sam Remley (126), Aaron Burnside (132) and Ed Narburgh (138).
Remley scored a major decision 15-3 win over Chris McDonald while Burnside edged Tom Follman 2-1 and Narburgh downed Devon Joy 18-11.
Lyndonville got pins from Tony Recco (106) and Dustin Hinkley (120). Hinkley scored a quick 45 second fall over Blake Aina and Recco bested Jordan Wolcott in 3:16.
Albion next visits Batavia at 5:30 p.m. Friday in an other non league match.
Lyndonville will compete in the Tonawanda Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Non league mat action continues this evening as Medina hosts Kendall at 6 p.m.
Barker 48, Canisius 36
BUFFALO - Barker registered seven pins to key a 48-36 victory over Canisius Wednesday in a non league season opening match.
Harrison Flint, Hayden Hathaway, Daniel Gardner, Dylan Mangan, Brandon Alt, Kyle Herian and Brad Bachman all notched pins for the Raiders.
