Veteran trio leads Rams into 2012 N-O league competition

Medina Journal-Register — MIDDLEPORT - Anchored by a trio of returning starters, Roy-Hart is looking to improve upon last year’s 5-9 record in Niagara-Orleans League competition.

Senior Brad Bobbitt, a first team N-O all-League honoree, heads that trio which also includes seniors Blake Copella and Ryan Farewell. Bobbitt averaged 15.8 points and five assists per outing last year.

Juniors Marc Roman and Alex Stoddard also retrun with varsity experience.

The Rams lineup also includes freshman point guard Andy Xapsos, juniors Austin Heschke and DaRon Woods, along with sophomores Sam White and Nelson Andrade, who were all starters on the JV team a year ago.

Rounding out the team are junior Cody Breedlove who transferred from Bishop Timon where he was a JV starter last year and senior Tucker Ruhlen who is in his first year of basketball.

“There is good depth on this year’s team and practices have been very competitive. Hopefully that will contribute to a successful season,” coach Mark Rydza said. “The league will be very balanced and competitive this season, with all teams improved from last year. So it will be difficult but the team is welcoming the challenge.”

The Rams will host Tonawanda on Dec. 4, visit Buffalo Arts on Dec. 11 and host Tapestry on Dec. 18 before opening the N-O season at Wilson on Dec. 21.
