Medina Journal-Register — ALBION - With a quartet of seniors leading the way Albion is prepping for the upcoming Niagara-Orleans League season.
That foursome of Sarah Pppponetti, Eboni Taylor, Tanisha Moyer and Martha Vallejo-Miller anchors the lineup for Albion which will visit Batavia on Thursday and Elba on Dec. 17 in non league tune up tests before opening the N-O campaign at home against Akron n Dec. 21.
Sophomore Justice Nauden and freshman Kelsee Soule also return with plenty of varsity experience from last year’s squad which went 1-4 in N-O action and 12-8 overall.
Rounding out the Purple Eagles lineup are juniors Arianna Smith and Jessica Green along with sophomore Mandi Covis and Megan Rosato.
“We’re hoping to build on the success we had last year,” coach Lucian Price said. “We’ve got a good group of seniors that creates a good foundation.”
The Purple Eagles key losses to graduation include Abby Edwards and Brittany Bennett-Allis.
““Hustle and effort will be our sting points,” Price said. “These kids have a lot of heart.”
Albion finished in the runner-up spot last season as Wilson and Roy-Hart shared the N-O title with identical 12-2 records.
