Medina Journal-Register — MIDDLEPORT — A quick two goal scoring burst late in the first half proved to be just enough to earn Roy-Hart a narrow 2-1 victory over Medina Monday n a Niagara-Orleans League game on Bruno Pacini Field.
In other N-O action, Akron trimmed Albion 2-1 and Newfane knocked Wilson from the ranks of the unbeaten 3-1. Those results leave Akron, Newfane and Wilson all deadlocked for the N-O lead at 6-1 at the half-way point of the season.
Taylor Fry scored with 6:36 to go in the first half, off an assist from Melissa Zakrzewski, to put Roy-Hart on the scoreboard.
Less than two minutes later Stephanie Riegle scored what proved to be the game winner at the 4:41 mark.
Medina battled back late in the second half as Julia Kepler scored with 11 minutes remaining but the Mustangs could not net the equalizer.
Roy-Hart improves to 3-4 and Medina slips to 2-5.
Akron 2, Albion 1
ALBION — Paige Buscaglia scored two goals in the first half to earn Akron the win.
Mariah Elenheimer scored in the second half for Albion which slips to 4-3.
Newfane 3, Wilson 1
NEWFANE — Kaylee Heschke, Sophie Connor and Savannah Jonathan each scored a goal for Newfane which gains a one-third share of the N-O lead with the victory over previously undefeated Wilson.
Alexander 3, Kendall 2
Nicole Browe and Sarah Boyle each scored a goal for Kendall in the narrow 3-2 Genesee Region League loss to Alexander Monday.
Kendall is now 6-2-1 and Alexander 5-2.
In other G-R action, Attica downed Lyndonville 5-0.
