Purple Eagles use six pins to down Lakemen

Albion caps 6-0 regular season

Registering six pins, Albion posted a 52-28 victory over Wilson Wednesday to complete a perfect 6-0 run through the dual match portion of the Niagara-Orleans League season.

In the other N-O matches on Wednesday, Royalton-Hartland improved to 5-1 by routing visiting Akron 84-6 ; and visiting Newfane bested Barker 56-18 to improve to 4-2.

The N-O championship will now be decided at the N-O Tournament Saturday at Wilson which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Leading by a narrow 34-28 margin, Albion locked up the victor on consecutive match closing pins by Dustin Ferguson (135) and Luke Moore (140), both in the first period, followed by a third period fall by Azael Tapia (145).

Earlier in the match the Purple Eagles got consecutive pins from Dylan Hall (189), Jesus Vallejo (215) and Kyle Moore (285). Hall’s and Moore’s were both of the sub-minute variety.

Seth Lowery (152) added a major decision victory for Albion which also got decision wins from Jim Mapes (112) and Colton Beecher (125) in a double overtime thriller.

Wilson, which finishes the dual match season at 1-5, got pins from Austin Fisher (171) and Mitch Thrush (130) along with a major decision win by Brandon Culverwell (160).

Pins by Anthony King (152), Casey Manicki (171), Korben Groves (215) and Jake Peters (135) highlighted the match for Roy-Hart which also benefited from nine forfeit wins in the match.

Nate Fix (112) had a third period pin for Akron’s only points. The loss drops the Tigers to 0-6.

Pins by Jake Summers (285), Matt Dougherty (96) and Josh Martin (135), along with technical fall wins by David Ciaramella (125) and Steve Lakes (145) set the pace for Newfane.

Josh Jackson (189) and Austin Blackley (215) registered pins for Barker which slips to 2-4.
