LYNDONVILLE —
Compiling a perfect 6-0 record, Lyndonville captured championship honors at the Somerset U10 baseball tournament this past weekend.
Exploding for seven runs in both the third and fourth innings, Lyndonville romped to a 25-3 victory over Somerset in the championship game.
Mike Wells and Jacob Hoffee earned MVP honors for Lyndonville, which defeated Roy-Hart 8-4 in the semifinals.
Lyndonville opened the tournament by defeating Medina 7-5, Roy-Hart 12-3, Somerset 5-3 and Albion 23-6 in the round-robin portion.
In the championship game, Eric Neace had five hits, Wells and Cody Bentley four, Kane Flynn, Matt Scroger and Josh Tombari three and Hoffee, Corey Hydock and Dylan Smith two each to lead the Lyndonville attack.
Hoffee’s hits included a two-run triple and Neace’s a double.
On the mound, Hoffee pitched the first three innings and Wells the last three. Wells made an excellent catch in the sixth inning for the game-ending out.
Scroger also made good plays at second base including making two put outs in the second inning and Smith caught a pop fly in right field in the fourth inning.
