JV Eagles top Broncos

Medina finishes with a perfect season

Scoring a touchdown on the opening kickoff, the Albion JV Eagles went on to defeat the Medina Broncos 48-18 Saturday to complete a perfect 8-0 regular season in Niagara Orleans Football Association competition.

The Medina Colts also came up with a big 14-0 win over the Albion Frosh Eagles to go to 5-3 and clinch a playoff berth.

Tyler Rotolli returned the opening kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown to spark the JV Eagles attack. Rotolli, who had a total of 169 yards offense on the day, also had an 88 yard touchdown run.

The JV Eagles also got touchdown runs of 61 and 53 yards by Manwell Taylor, 38 by Jason Downs and seven yards by Joey Hughson. Downs also returned a pass interception 14 yards for another TD. Taylor had a total of 158 yards offense, Hughson 104 and Downs 59.

The JV Eagles also got two points on a safety by Nate Trembley.

Defensively for the JV Eagles, Trembley made eight tackles, Jacob Osburn and Kori Reynolds six, Rotolli five, Jason Downs four, Hughson and Randall Eblacker three and JJ Downs and Chase Hill two.

The JV Eagles will now face Attica in the playoff semifinals at 3 p.m. Sunday at Medina.

Jakob Cotter had 164 yards and two touchdowns and Jared Zinkievich 85 yards and one touchdown for the Broncos.

Jacob Bishop led the Broncos defense with six tackles as Chase Pecoraro and Hunter Sturtevant both were in on three stops.

Colts 14, Frosh Eagles 0

Ethan Leonard scored on a 52-yard run and Ronnie Koonce on a nine-yard run to lead the Medina Colts past the Frosh Eagles. Mason Pecoraro and Owen Frasier both added extra points.

Leonard had a total of 72 yards offense, Frasier 64, Hunter Kruger 62, Damon Bloom 45, Koonce 42, Pecoraro 30 and Matt Saj 27 behind the line blocking of Andrew Sipple, Izaiah Rhim, Brekale Washington, Sebastian Fisher, Ian Jseph and Brennen Hughes.

On defense, Sipple recovered a fumble while Joseph, Pecorao and Bloom all had sacks. Bloom was also in on 10 tackles, Koonce five, Sipple four, Washingtion and Pecoraro three and Leonard two.

The Colts now will face Newfane in the playoff semifinals at 11 a.m. Sunday at Vets Park.

Demetius Gardner had 63 yards, Antonio Vallejo 31 and Cade Aina 12 for the Frosh Eagles.

Defensively for the Eagles, Colton Howell made 15 tackles, Brad Sanford 11, Dominic Farley nine, Vallejo eight, Aina seven, Gardner six, Spencer Rotolli five, Colton Tuttle four and Mark Green three.

Holley Mini Hawks 6, Bar-Lyn Cubs 0

Erik Balys scored the touchdown in overtime for Holley. He had 65 yards offense on the day and Ryan Andrews 17.

Defensively, Balys, Mallet and Glen Thrower all had fumble recoveries and Andrews an interception. Thrower forced two fumbles and Nicholas Schutz one.

Thrower led in tackles with 13 while Schutz made nine stops, Dalton Moyer seven, Nathan Murphy six and Kyle Webster six, Juan Mendez five, Balys four and Andrews, Michael Passarell and Bruce Hanat three.

Holley JV Eagles 13, Bar-Lyn Raiders 0

Justin Parker had 138 yards offense and a touchdown, Adam Stetzel 110 yards and a touchdown and Zach Day 12 yards and an extra point to lead the JV Hawks offense.

Defensively, Parker, Alex Laure and Dustin Hillabush had fumble recoveries and Clarence Moyer an interception. Nick Schenk led in tackles with six as Parker made five and John Burgess, Laure, Moyer, Austin Vorman and Nick Passarell three.

Holley Varsity Hawks 35, Bar-Lyn Tigers 12

Kevin Avery had 285 yards offense and four touchdowns to lead the Hawks. John Affrontio had 58 yards, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and an extra point, Dominic Marks 23 yards and Shane DiPilato 10 yards and two extra point catches.

On defense, Avery had an interception. Affronti made 11 tackles, Marks nine, Avery seven, DiPilato six, Quinton Soules and Danny Flanagan five and Glen Robb three.

    In Genesee Region League action, Lyndonville got a late pin to nip host Byron-Bergen 45-41.
    In other N-O action, front-running Newfane improved to 5-0 by defeating rival Wilson  (2-2) 60-17 and Barker (1-3) downed Akron (0-5) 43-36.
