A 38-26 scoring edge over the middle two quarters keyed Oakfield-Alabama to a 66-54 victory over Lyndonville on Friday in the Genesee Region League season opener.
In other G-R action, Kendall defeated Byron-Bergen 43-29 and Elba topped Holley 51-44.
In a non-league contest, JFK defeated host Roy-Hart 56-49.
Leading by a narrow 13-12 margin, Oakfield-Alabama outscored Lyndonville 23-16 in the second quarter to take a 36-28 lead at the half. The Hornets extended the advantage to 51-38 at the three-quarter mark after out pointing the Tigers 15-10 in the third quarter.
Sam McCracken scored 28 points and AJ Kehlenback added 22 and 14 rebounds to lead the Hornets.
Muhammad Akram scored 22 and Josh Karp 13 for the Tigers as both players his three three-point shot.
Kendall 43, Byron-Bergen 29
Jimmy Zingler scored 11 points, Colt Tooley 10 and Alex Bosko nine to lead the balanced attack for Kendall, which enjoyed a 21-7 half-time advantage.
Elba 51, Holley 44
Eric Kowalik, who scored a game high 19 points, hit three big three-point shots in the fourth quarter to key Elba’s 51-44 victory over Holley.
Guy Hills scored 14 and Brian Mitchell 12 for Holley.
JFK 56, Roy-Hart 49
Leading by just one, 40-39, at the three-quarter mark, JFK outscored Roy-Hart 16-10 down the stretch to claim the win.
Jeff Swick took game high scoring honors for Roy-Hart with 19.
