Medina spikers defeat Roy-Hart

Medina Journal-Register — Moving back above the .500 mark at 5-4, Medina defeated visiting Roy-Hart 25-20, 25-19, 25-17 Tuesday in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.

Breaking away from a 14-14 tie, Medina used a big run of eight straight service points by Nakisha Jones, a run which included two aces, to key the opening set 25-20 win. Spiking kills by Jenna Carpenter polished off two of the last four points.

In the second set, Abby Button served up points 19-21, a run which included kills by Carpenter and Jenn Molisani, to give Medina 21-13 lead. 

The Mustangs quickly finished off the set as Alba Perez had a kill for point 23, Emma Ambrose an ace for 24 and Jessica Rosenbeck a kill for 25.

Carpenter then served up points 4-7 and 16-20 to lead Medinin the third set which was capped off by back-to-back aces by Button for the set and match winning points.

The loss drops Roy-Hart to 3-6.

Newfane 25-25-25

CSAT 5-11-12

Shannon Button had 17 service points with four aces, Autumn Richau three aces and two kills and Maddy Passuite secen assists to lead Newfane 3-5) to the three set victory over CSAT (0-9).

Wilson 20-25-25-25

Albion 25-21-22-9

Lindsay Bryer had 39 assists, eight kills and five aces; Jordan Glosser 16 kills, 10 digs and five aces and Kristin Sampson six kills and five blocks to lead undefeated (9-0) Wilson to a four set victory over visiting Albion (5-3).

Field Hockey

Kenmore tops Medina

KENMORE - Keeping a hold on sole possession of second place, Kenmore downed Medina 4-1 Tuesday to improve to 6-1 in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey competition.

Kaeli Mathias scored three goals to spark Kenmore.

Olivia Hermann scored the goal for Medina which slips to 0-6-1.

Front-running Barker stayed perfect at 7-0 by blanking Newfane 6-0 as Olivia Denny scored three goals and Gabby Clare added two assists to lead the way.

Roy-Hart improved to 3-4 by downing Wilson 3-2 as Paige Flynn scored all three goals.

Michelle Myers scored both goals for Wilson which slips to 1-6.
