Medina Journal-Register — Putting together a late flurry of four pins, Medina rallied past visiting Akron 42-39 Wednesday leaving both teams at 2-1 in Niagara-Orleans League wrestling action.
Trailing 27-15, Medina rallied into a 36-27 lead after three straight pins by Jessie Tabor (132), Austin Heideman (138) and Ben Howell (145).
The Mustangs then moved out to an unbeatable 42-33 lead with just one bout remaining after a pin by Rob Wendt (160).
Akron had jumped out to a 12-0 lead at the outset after pins by Nick Paolucci (182) and Joey Sarow (195).
A decision win by Matt Montesanti (285) and a first period pin by Brennen Callara (106) did rally Medina back to within two at 17-15 but Akron pulled back out to what proved to be a short lived 27-15 advantage after a third period pin by Ethan Pequeen (113) and a major decision win by Matt Febelkorn (120).
Medina though came battling back starting with a decision win by Nick Erway (126) followed by a third period pin by Tabor, back-to-back first period falls by Heideman and Howell and capped off by a a second period pin by Wendt.
Medina next hosts Lyndonville in a non league match at 5 p.m. Friday which will also be Alumni Night.
Roy-Hart 57, Barker 17
MIDDLEPORT - Pins by Cameron Swick (103), William Jensen (138), Travis Kelkenberg (170) and Alex Jensen (220) sparked Roy-Hart to a 57-17 victory over visiting Barker.
Jake Stern (113), Zach Bickle (145) and Clayton Smith also all earned decison wins for Roy-Hart which improves to 2-0.
Barker, which slips to 0-3, got a technical fall win by Brett Bachman (99) and decision wins by Kyl Ariayn (182) and Brandon Alt (195).
Newfane 50, Albion 33
ALBION - Consecutive pins by Clayton Cleveley (106), Jordan Tamarre (113) and Tyler Gerhardt (120) to open the match ignited Newfane to a 50-33 victory over Albion.
Cyrus Simons (145), Josh Seib (220) and Casey Kubiniec (285) also all registered pins for the Panthers and Nate Martin (138) added a technical fall win.
Aaron Burnside (132), Greg Blank (160), Tre Hart (170) and Aaron Mulroy (195) all notched pins and Sam Remley (126) added a technical fall win for Albion.
Newfane improves to 2-1 and Albion slips to 1-1.

Lyndonville 30
KENDALL - Breaking the game open in the third quarter, Kendall went on to defeat Lyndonville 64-30 Wednesday in a Genesee Region League game.
Up 28-20 at the half, Kendall outscored Lyndonville 17-4 in the decisive third period to pull away to a 45-24 advantage.
Garrett Love scored 17, Mookie Nauden 14 and Dan Kelly 11 to spark the Kendall attack.
Austin Bane was high for Lyndonville with eight.
