Channel Cats sweep past Seahorses

Medina Journal-Register — MIDDLEPORT — The defending champion Roy-Hart boys swim squad stayed perfect at 4-0 by downing Medina 101-77 Thursday in a Niagara-Orleans League meet.

The Roy-Hart girls team completed the sweep by defeating Medina 109-59 to improve to 3-1.

The Barker boys team pulled into a tie with Akron for second place at 3-1 by edging past the host TigerSharks 88-82.

The Akron girls topped Barker 91-79 to improve to 3-1.

Lyle Wagner doubled in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke and Roy Phipps in the 50 and 100 freestyle events to lead the Roy-Hart boys.

The Channel Cats also got wins by Jeff Durbin (200 free), Zach Augustyn (100 butterfly) and Mason Sparks (500 free).

Chris Horgan won the 100 breaststroke for Medina which slips to 1-3.

Sarah DiMayo was a double winner in the individual medley and butterfly for the Roy-Hart girls which also got wins from Melissa Zakrzewski (200 free), Lindsay Yates (50 free), Alexandra Hill (500 free), Cassandra Dilorenzo (100 backstroke) and Erin Gow (100 breaststroke).

Mckenzie Wright won the 100 free for Medina which is now 0-4.

Zach Shaft, John Stansbury and Zach Smolinsky teamed up with Casey Webb to win the 200 free relay and with Brian Alt to take the 400 free relay sparking the Barker boys. Alt also won the 100 backstroke.

John Buyea doubled in the 200 and 100 free for Akron.

The Akron girls were paced by double winners Julie Diebel (individual medley, 500 free) and Becca Donner (50 and 100 free).

Renee Levy took the 200 free and Hayley Richbart the 100 breaststroke for Barker which slips to 2-2.
