Channel Cats score key win over Raiders

Medina Journal-Register — MIDDLEPORT - Celebrating Senior Night six time defending champion Roy-Hart opened up a two meet lead in the title race by downing Barker 93-76 Thursday in a key Niagara-Orleans League boys swim meet.

The victory keeps Roy-Hart perfect at 7-0 while Barker slips to 5-2.

Jeff Durbin doubled in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Lyle Wagner in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly to lead the way for Roy-Hart.

The Channel Cats also had Raymond Sack take the 50 free, Luke Brauer the 100 free and Roy Phipps the 100 breaststroke.

Completing the sweep, the Roy-Hart girls downed Barker 106-64 to improve to 6-1.

Lindsay Yates was a double winner in the 200 free and 100 backstroke and Sarah Dimayo took both the individual medley and butterfly to pace Roy-Hart.

The Channel Cats also got wins from Kyle Majke (50 free) and Alex Hill (500 free).

Renee Levy won the 100 free and Hayley Richbart the 100 breaststroke for Bakrer which slips to 3-4.

Medina 112, Newfane 63 (boys)

Newfane 103, Medina 66 (girls)

NEWFANE - Steven Hann doubled in the 50 and 100 free and Austin Brown in the individual medley and butterfly and Mason Roberts took the backstroke to lead the Medina boys squad past Newfane 112-63.

Improvng to 3-4, the Seahorses also swept the three relays as Roberts, Chris Horgan, Bryer Boyce and Ben Austin won the 200 medley; Austin, Boyce, Hann and Chase Pecoraro the 200 free and Hann, Boyce, Brown and Pecoraro the 400 free.

Brad Berner took the 500 free, Brandon MacFarlane the 200 free and Chris Hannah the breaststroke for Newfane which falls to 1-6.

The three time defending champion Newfane girls squad stayed undefeated at 7-0 with the 103-66 win over Medina which drops to 1-6.

Seven different swimmers claimed individual event wins for Newfane as Brianna Gaughran took the 200 free, Allie DeBiase the individual medley, Kendall Schmeelke the 50 free, Kiki Dy the butterfly, Lil Masters the 100 free, Lydia Gaughren the 500 free and Kat Bochnewetch the backstroke.

Medina’s Hayley Cogovan took the breaststroke.

Akron 64, Albion 25 (boys)

Akron 57, Albion 36 (girls)

ALBION - Alec Kowalik doubled in the butterfly and breaststroke for the Akron boys squad which improved to 5-2 with the 64-25 win over Albion which falls to 0-7.

Dominic DeCarlo won the 100 free and Morgan Seielstad the 500 free for Albion.

The Akron girls squad improved to 4-3 with a 57-36 win over Albion as Becca Donner doubled in the 50 free and backstroke and Julia Diebel in the individual medley and butterfly.

Olivia Neidert won the 200 free, Brooke Wilson the 100 free and Elizaberh Jurs the 500 free for Albion which drops to 0-7.
