Medina Journal-Register — LYNDONVILLE - Rallying into the lead for good with a late first half scoring burst, Oakfield-Alabama went on to defeat Lyndonville 53-39 Thursday in a Genesee Region League game.
Trailing 15-10, Oakfield-Alabama closed the first half with an 11-0 run including a three and a layup by Hunter Spiotta and a jumper and layup by Nate Nadolinski to grab the upper hnd for good by a 21-15 margin at the half.
The Hornets doubled their advantage to 12, 36-24, at the three-quarter mark as Spiotta had a three, a layup and jumper and Austin Hamm a jumper and layup.
Three threes by Spiotta to open the fourth quarter upped the Hornets lead to 17, 47-30, to lock up the win.
Lyndonville’s last lead of 15-10 midway through the second quarter came after an 11-3 run which included a three by Patrick Hinkson, a layup off a steal by Ty Hrovat and layups by Evan Milleville and Brandon Schoolcraft.
The Tigers trailed 7-4 after a 1 of 16 shooting effort from the field in the first quarter.
Spiotta finished with a game high 25 points, including five threes, and Nadolinski added 11 for the Hornets.
Austin Bane netted 10, Hrovat eight, Milleville seven, Hinkson five, Justin Edwards four, Phillps Greshem three and Schoolcraft two for the Tigers.
