WILSON PINS ALBION

Medina Journal-Register — ALBION - Snapping a season long five league match losing streak, Wilson downed Albion 50-36 Wednesday to close out the Niagara-Orleans regular season.

In other N-O action, Akron took over sole possession of first place at 5-1 by posting a 42-27 win over Roy-Hart which slips to 4-2 and Newfane bested host Barker 50-21. Newfane, Roy-Hart and Medina are now all deadlocked for second place at 4-2.

Pins by Jon Shaffer (120), Jacob Rice (152), Joe Stimm (182) and Brian Kerwin (220) along with a technical fall win by Chase Wheeler (160) keyed Wilson to the victory.

Albion, which finishes regular season at 2-4, got pins from Aaron Burnside (132), Ed Narburgh (138) and Kyle McGaffick (145).

The pins by Rice and Stimm, along with Wheeler’s tech fall victory, vaulted Wilson out to an early 20-6 lead and the Lakemen never trailed.

Albion did stay within eight at 32-24 but Wilson used a first period pin by Shaffer along with a pair of forfeits to extend the lead to 50-24 and put a lock on the victory.

Each team benefitted from three forfeit wins.

The N-O title will now be decided at the All-League Tournament Saturday at Barker.

Holley 77, Lyndonville 6

HOLLEY - Putting lock on the Genesee Regiion League title, undefeated (5-0) Holley downed Lyndonville 77-6.

Alan Whie (120) and Sam Beadle (132) both registered pins for Holley which also got decision wins by Dakota White (99), Dan Flanagan (126) and Kevin Avery (145).

Newfane 50, Barker 21

BARKER - Pins by Clayton Cleveley (106), Cyrus Simons (138), Jon Page (152) and a technical fall win by Nate Martin (145) sparked Newfane to a 50-21 N-O win over Barker.

Lukas Hanssen (285 ) had the lone pin for Barker.

Barker finishes the regular season at 1-5.

Akron 42, Roy-Hart 27

AKRON - Pins by Matt Fielbelkorn (120), Jordan Truglio (145), Adrian Ross (170), Joey Sarow (182) and Nick Polucci )195) highlighted Akron’s big victory over Roy-Hart.

Drew Hull and Zach Bickle registered pins for Roy-Hart.

Girls Basketball

Wilson 56, Newfane 28

WILSON - Taking over sole possession of first place, Wilson rolled to a 56-28 victory over rival Newfane Wednesday in a key N-O League mid season battle of unbeatens.

Emily Lasher had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Jamie Curry 12 points, 10 assists and six steals to lead the way for Wilson which stays perfect at 7-0.

Newfane, which slips to 6-1, trailed 26-15 at the half and 43-24 after

three quarters
