basketball: Fifth and sixth grade teamdefeated Albion in championship.

Albion — The Lyndonville Lady Tigers are Champs of the year end tournament hosted by the Albion fifth and sixth grade girls basketball team, and are sponsored by the Albion Elks Association.

The tournament organized by the Albion girls basketball boosters,was held on Feb. 9. The four teams that participated and their final tournament placements were fourth place Barker, third place Wilson, second place Albion and the first place trophy going to the Lyndonville Lady Tigers who ended the day with a perfect 3-0 record.

Lyndonville beat host Albion in the championship game 27 - 22.

 Coach Ken Hickson of Lyndonville say’s “I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of the tournament and the improvement of all 11 girls since the start of the season.” and Asst. Coach Tammy Hickson say’s “Had a great day of basketball at the Albion tournament. All the girls played real hard and I am proud of them.”

“This is the future for all the schools girls basketball programs” said one Wilson parent “These girls will be playing against each other for years to come most likely. It was a great tournament and Albion were wonderful hosts. Everything was set up very nice!”

Leading their respective teams were Alecia Hinkson, Lyndonville, Brylie Hapeman and Sierra Newton of Albion and nice balanced attacks from Wilson and Barker.
