Wilson tops Medina for first victory

Medina Journal-Register — WILSON - Snapping a season opening five game losing streak, Wilson blanked Medina 3-0 Thursday in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game.

Michelle Myers scored the three goal hat-trick to spark the Wilson attack.

Myers broke in clean for two quick goals late in the first half, with 10 and five minutes remaining, to put Wilson in control. She later completed her hat-trick with another goal with 17 minutes to go in the second half.

Medina, which slips to 0-5-1 had half a dozen corner opportunities in the second half but were unable to capitalize.

Defending champion Barker remained undefeated at 6-0 with a 3-0 win over visiting Roy-Hart.

Olivia Denny, Kayla Moeller and Melissa Grosshans took turns scoring the goals for the Lady Raiders.

Caitlin Mason earned the shut out in goal for Barker which has shut out all six opponents to date.

Kenmore took over sole possession of second place by downing host Akron 2-0 on a pair of second half goals by Kaeli Mathias.

Kenmore improves to 5-1 and Akron slips to 4-2.
