Jack W. Newton

SHELBY —  

Jack W. Newton, 81, of Shelby, entered into rest on Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24, 2012 in the Medina Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born on October 27, 1931 in Alabama, NY, Jack was the son of the late Ellis and Edna (Kyle) Newton.
He was a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1954. He married the former Norma Jean Goldsmith in Medina on September 8, 1956. Jack worked as a logger for many years. He liked to spend most of his time hunting, fishing and trapping or just about anything outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Newton; three sons, John (Tammy), David and Thomas (Vicki); six grandchildren and one great-grandson; three brothers, Ellis (late Mary Lou), Frank (Laurie) and Melvin (Betty); a sister, Jenette (late Peter) Roborge; also several nieces, nephews; and his good friend, Russell Duffield.
There will be no prior visitation. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and the Lincoln Post #1483, VFW on Saturday at 11 AM at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. A time of Fellowship will follow at the Alabama & Basom United Methodist Church, 1392 Church Street Alabama, NY 14013. Burial will be in the spring at Millville Cemetery.
